Online dew point monitoring measures the moisture content of compressed air continuously, so operators can detect dryer faults before wet air reaches the process. A single dew point sensor placed after the dryer is the most effective quality safeguard.
Why monitor continuously
- Detect dryer overload or failure early
- Protect product and control instruments
- Confirm dryer performance trends
- Trigger alarms and maintenance
Sensor placement
Install the sensor downstream of the dryer and filtration, in a location with stable flow. Use a sample line where the air is hot or dirty, and avoid dead legs where moisture can condense and distort the reading.
Calibration
Dew point sensors drift over time, so verify and calibrate them at the intervals the manufacturer recommends. Trend the readings and compare them with the dryer specification to catch gradual performance loss.
