Tyre manufacturing uses compressed air across the whole process, from rubber conveying and component building to the curing presses. Any interruption stops the line, so the air system must be engineered for reliability and redundancy.
Key applications
- Bladder inflation on curing presses
- Pneumatic conveying of carbon black
- Tyre building machine actuation
- Control and instrumentation air
Air quality
Control and building air must be dry and clean for reliable actuation. Curing bladders need stable pressure control, and any water or oil in the air can damage the bladder and affect the finished tyre.
System design
Provide a base-load and standby compressor arrangement with generous storage, drying and filtration. Separate critical press air from general utility air, and monitor dew point and pressure continuously to protect the curing operation.
