Furniture manufacturing uses compressed air for sanding, spraying, pressing, assembly and packaging. The finishing process is especially sensitive to air quality, because water or oil in the line ruins paint and coating work.
Key applications
- Orbital and belt sanders
- Spray guns and finishing lines
- Pneumatic presses and clamps
- Assembly tools and staplers
- Dust blow-off and cleaning
Air quality
Finishing air must be oil-free and dry, with a refrigerated or adsorption dryer and coalescing filters at the spray booth. General tool air needs drying and filtration, but not the same purity as the finishing line.
Sizing
Sanders and spray guns run continuously while assembly tools are intermittent. A receiver tank buffers the bursts, and a variable speed compressor follows the fluctuating demand. Keep the compressor in a ventilated, dust-free area.
