Frozen food processing uses compressed air for freezing, conveying, packaging and control in a cold environment. The air must be very dry, because moisture freezes in lines and valves, and oil-free where it contacts the product.
Key applications
- Freezer and blast-chiller controls
- Pneumatic conveying of product
- Packaging, sealing and palletising
- Valve and actuator control
Air quality
Specify oil-free air for product contact, with an adsorption dryer to reach a dew point below the coldest process temperature. Dry air prevents ice blockage in valves and protects pneumatic components in sub-zero conditions.
System design
Route air lines to avoid water accumulation, fit drains at low points, and insulate lines that pass through cold zones. Provide redundancy so freezing and packaging lines keep running during service.
