Edible oil processing uses compressed air in extraction, refining, bleaching, deodorising and packaging. Where air contacts the oil, it must be clean and oil-free to protect product quality and food safety.
Key applications
- Pneumatic conveying of seeds and meal
- Extraction and refining process control
- Nitrogen blanketing support for storage
- Filling, capping and packaging lines
Air quality
Product-contact air must be oil-free and dry to prevent oxidation and contamination of the oil. Control air needs a low dew point for reliable valve operation, and conveying air must be dry to avoid material clumping.
System design
Use oil-free compression with drying and filtration, and separate hygienic product air from general utility air. Redundancy and continuous monitoring keep the continuous extraction process running reliably.
