Battery manufacturing is a precision, humidity-sensitive process. Electrode coating, stacking, electrolyte filling and testing all use compressed air, and moisture in the air damages the cells and creates safety risks.
Key applications
- Electrode coating and drying
- Cell stacking and winding
- Electrolyte filling and sealing
- Formation and testing systems
Air quality
The process requires oil-free, very dry air, often a pressure dew point of -40°C or lower, with filtration to protect the electrodes. Control air for automation must be dry and stable.
System design
Use oil-free compression with adsorption drying in redundant pairs, and monitor dew point continuously. Clean, non-shedding pipework and point-of-use filtration protect the process, and the system must be validated for the plant quality standard.
