Aquaculture and fish farming depend on dissolved oxygen in the water, and compressed air is the main way to provide it. Aeration diffusers, oxygenation cones and circulation systems all run on air, and an undersized system directly threatens stock survival.
Key applications
- Fine-bubble aeration in ponds and raceways
- Oxygenation systems for high-density tanks
- Water circulation and lifting
- Feeding and harvest equipment
Selection factors
Aeration needs high volume at low pressure, so low-pressure screw blowers are more efficient than general compressors. Size for the dissolved-oxygen demand at the highest stocking density and water temperature, because warmer water holds less oxygen and raises demand.
Reliability
An air failure in a fish farm can be catastrophic, so provide redundancy and alarms on air pressure and flow. Keep backup power available, and protect the blowers from the humid, corrosive waterside environment.
