Compressors on dusty, hot or humid sites fail early unless they are specified for the conditions. Heavy-duty intake filtration, adequate cooling and protected controls are the difference between reliable air and constant breakdowns.
Selection points
- Heavy-duty or cyclone intake pre-filter
- Oversized cooler for high ambient
- Sealed, dust-protected electrical panel
- Corrosion-resistant finishes for humidity
Placement
Place the machine in a clean, ventilated room where possible, or duct the intake from a clean location. Keep the cooler fins clean, and allow extra spacing around the machine for airflow in high ambient temperatures.
Maintenance
Shorten intake filter and cooler cleaning intervals to match the dust load, and inspect seals and filters more often. A compressor specified for the environment costs slightly more upfront but avoids the repeated failure and downtime of a standard machine.
