Breathing air purification systems treat compressor discharge so it is safe for supplied-air respirators in blasting, painting and confined-space work. The system removes oil vapour, water, carbon monoxide and particles before the air reaches the operator.
What the system removes
- Oil mist and oil vapour
- Water and water vapour
- Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
- Dust and particulates
Standards
Breathing air must meet recognised purity standards such as EN 12021 or CSA Z180.1, with strict limits on oil, moisture, CO and CO2. Filtration, desiccant drying and catalyst conversion are used together to reach these limits.
System design
Use oil-free compression where possible, followed by multi-stage filtration, a catalytic CO converter, desiccant dryer and final bacterial filter. Continuous dew-point and CO monitoring confirms the air stays within the breathing limit.
