Keeping the right spare parts on site turns a potential breakdown into a short stop instead of days of downtime waiting for delivery. The stock list depends on the machine and how critical the air supply is.
Essential stock items
- Air filter, oil filter and separator elements
- Correct compressor oil
- Drive belts and coupling elements
- Pressure switches and sensors
- Inlet and minimum pressure valve service kits
Criticality decides depth
For a non-critical machine, filters and oil are enough. For a plant that cannot stop, add the valve kits, sensors and a spare airend or full spare machine. The cost of the parts is small compared with the cost of lost production.
Managing the stock
Store parts clean and dry, label them with the machine model, and rotate stock so nothing sits past its shelf life. Review the list after each service to match it to what the machine actually consumes.
