Many compressor problems are caused by the installation rather than the machine. Correct placement, pipework and commissioning protect the compressor from heat, vibration and pressure drop, and keep the whole system efficient from the first day.
Placement and ventilation
- Clean, dry, dust-free room with adequate service access
- Ventilation sized to remove rejected heat in summer
- Level foundation or anti-vibration pads
- Sufficient clearance around coolers and doors
Pipework and electrical
Connect the machine with flexible hoses to avoid transmitting vibration, and size the main pipe for total future flow. Slope the piping to drains and take branches from the top of the header. Verify the electrical supply, fusing and phase balance before first start.
Commissioning checks
Check rotation direction, oil level and all connections, then run the compressor unloaded before bringing it to pressure. Confirm the safety valve, pressure switch and dryer all operate, and log the initial pressure, temperature and current as a baseline for future maintenance.
