Oil-free compressed air is essential where oil contamination can affect product safety or process quality. Food, beverage, pharmaceutical, electronics and medical applications commonly require ISO 8573-1 Class 0 air.
Start with the air quality class
A standard oil-injected compressor with good filtration can provide instrument-quality air for many general industrial applications. If your process requires Class 0, however, an oil-free compressor is the most reliable choice because there is no oil in the compression chamber.
Consider lifecycle cost
Oil-free compressors generally cost more to purchase, but can reduce treatment complexity and product-risk cost. In some plants, a small oil-free compressor at the point of use is more economical than making the entire factory oil-free.
Do not forget the treatment train
An oil-free compressor is not automatically clean enough for every process. Dryers, filters, receivers and piping all influence dew point and particle levels. Our engineers can help you match the complete system to the required class.
