Corrugated packaging plants use compressed air throughout the corrugator and converting lines. Sheet handling, slitting, printing, gluing, stacking and palletising all rely on air, and a pressure dip stalls the whole line.
Key applications
- Corrugator web tension and sheet control
- Converting machine actuation and cutting
- Glue application and cleaning
- Stacking, strapping and palletising
Air quality
Control air must be dry and oil-free for reliable valve and cylinder operation. Air that contacts the board during cleaning or glue application should be clean to avoid stains. Drying prevents moisture damage to paper and control components.
System design
Demand is high and fluctuating, so variable speed compressors with receiver capacity hold pressure steady. A looped header reduces pressure drop, and leak management is important because corrugated plants are prone to wear in quick couplings and hoses.
