Coffee processing uses compressed air for roasting, grinding, conveying, degassing and packaging. The air can contact the beans and ground coffee, so it must be clean, oil-free and dry to protect flavour and food safety.
Key applications
- Roaster and cooler controls
- Grinding and dosing systems
- Pneumatic conveying of beans and grounds
- Valve bag filling and sealing
Air quality
Product-contact air must be oil-free and dry, because oil odours taint the coffee and moisture causes caking and quality loss. Control air needs a low dew point for reliable valve operation.
System design
Use oil-free compression with drying and filtration, separate product air from utility air, and provide redundancy for continuous roasting and packaging lines. Manage the fine coffee dust with heavy-duty intake filtration.
