Cement production is a continuous, dusty, high-volume process that depends heavily on compressed air. Pneumatic conveying, silo aeration, bagging, filter cleaning and instrumentation all run on air, and the equipment must survive a highly abrasive environment.
Key applications
- Pneumatic conveying of raw meal, cement and fly ash
- Aeration of silos and hoppers to assist flow
- Bag filling and palletising lines
- Dust collector pulse cleaning
- Process control and valve actuation
Selection factors
Low-pressure screw blowers serve conveying and aeration, while instrument air needs a dedicated dry, oil-free supply at low dew point. Heavy-duty intake filtration is essential to keep cement dust out of the airend, and coolers must be cleaned frequently in the dusty ambient.
Reliability
Cement kilns cannot stop, so the air system needs redundancy and remote monitoring. Sequence multiple compressors, keep spares for filters and wear parts on site, and monitor dew point and pressure continuously to avoid unplanned shutdowns.
